The Oresteia - a new adaption by Robert Icke

This story is both about the complex historical evolution of society and it’s system of justice and an example of how things can go wrong in a household – disorder, murder, adultery, vengeance. Aeschylus’ monumental trilogy not only profoundly impacted the Athenians of his time, but even today continues to provide questions regarding the nature of justice, revenge and resolution, which feel apt in our current times of intense social disquiet and change. This arresting tragedy is brought to dramatic life by a dynamic and hugely ambitious and talented young company.

The show runs on the 9th, 10th February at 7.00pm in the MCT and will last approximately two and a half hours including a fifteen minute interval.
